Karnataka Land Reforms 2020

The Karnataka Land Reforms (Amendment) Act, 2020 has removed the restrictions on non-agriculturists buying farmland. Anyone (Indian Citizen/NRI) can now legally own agricultural land in Karnataka with full rights.

Note on Income: While anyone can own the land, agricultural income is tax-free under Section 10(1) of the Income Tax Act.
